Despite going extremely quiet for a while [yup, two full weeks!], I have still been making progress in web development, but it’s definitely slowed! Depending on how my schedule goes for the next little while, I’ll probably just be posting a quick update every fortnight.
I’m currently working my way through the SQL / relational database exercises that are part of the Stanford online course, which I’m finding challenging, but still managing to work my way through them. I’m on the first set of exercises relating to the database of a film-rating website, which is a nice change from exercises I’ve completed in the past where it was hard to see when or how you would actually apply what you’re learning in a real life situation.
I won’t lie though, I do find the videos a bit heavy going- I’ve watched all of them more than once, and often paused them to go over what was being written. I haven’t done one of the things suggested in the introduction, which was to watch some videos on relational algebra, I might look into those in the future.
Hope everyone else is still making good progress!
Nice to see you again. It’s been pretty busy for me with my new job but I’m making good progress with JavaScript and still trying to figure out CSS positioning. It’s really frustrating.

The only thing that’s helped me with CSS positioning has been actually making up full pages, even for random little things. Just decide on a design and then make it happen! Congrats on the new job! š

Glad to hear you still making progress. I’m doing the XML mini course from Standford too. Good luck with those tricky concepts in SQL =).
